Static vs Dynamic QR Codes

The single most important decision when creating a QR code is choosing between static and dynamic. A static QR code has the destination permanently encoded in its pattern. Once printed, it cannot be changed. A dynamic QR code points to a short URL that redirects to your actual destination. You can change where it points at any time without reprinting.

For anything that will be printed, always choose dynamic. Reprinting thousands of flyers because a URL changed is expensive and wasteful. Dynamic codes also enable scan analytics: you can see how many times the code was scanned, from which countries, and on which devices.

Step 1: Choose Your QR Code Type
